]]>Go Small with Your Tree
Your tree can be beautiful even in a smaller package. Go small, and focus on decorating your tree beautifully. You may even be able to find artificial trees designed to fit flat against a wall or flush in a corner to maximize space. A tabletop tree is perfect for apartments as well, as it doesn't take up any floor space while still adding that festive flare you want.
Use Wreaths and Garland Liberally
Wreaths and garland are a great way to dress up your space. Add them to your walls, doorways and more to increase the festive feel without adding clutter to your floors. Consider framing each door or window frame in your loft with attractive garland.
Light Up the Space
Use holiday lights wherever you can to ensure the space looks festive as well. Wind them into your garland, drape them over door and window frames and, of course, put them on the tree if you have one. The more lights you have, the more holiday-inspired your space will be.
Use the Tabletop
Any tables you have can be decorated to add more to your holiday decor without cluttering up your space. A centerpiece on your dining set, a Christmas village on your end table, or a collection of snowmen on your nightstand – all of these are simple and space-conscious decorating ideas.
Use Your Presents and Cards
If you are going to be buying presents, buy them and wrap them early. If you receive holiday cards, hang them on your garland to add to your decor. These items can double as decorations while you await the coming holiday.
As you can see, there are many creative ways to decorate a loft apartment for the holidays. With a little bit of creativity, you can transform your space expertly, all while ensuring that your space stays clutter-free!

]]>You might think this is an inevitable problem when you live in an apartment, but there are several easy and inexpensive ways to rearrange your closet to make it more functional. Here are a few ideas:
It’s not a glamorous tip, but getting rid of unnecessary stuff is always the first step towards making your space seem bigger. Set aside an hour or two, pull everything out of your closet, and get rid of whatever you don’t wear or need. You can put these items in a separate container for storage if you’re unsure about getting rid of them completely. Marie Kondo would be proud!
Remember to keep your most worn items easy to access. Think strategically about organization, and make use of vertical storage. There are plenty of inexpensive storage solutions you can add to utilize empty space.
Consider a small bookcase with baskets, a towel bar or hooks to use empty wall space, or a shoe rack for the floor. You can also easily install floating shelves, which are a good place to keep folded items or bags.
Store your least worn items or out-of-season pieces at the very top of your space.
Putting outfits together is much easier when accessories aren’t mixed in with the rest of your clothes. Keep ties, scarves, jewelry, and sunglasses each in their own spot so it’s easy to see what you have.
4. Categorize—or color coordinate
It’s extra effort up front, but grouping like items together definitely saves time in the long run. If you want to, you can even color coordinate everything for maximum visual impact.
Even if you don’t choose to separate everything by color, basic organization in the form of categorizing shirts, pants, jackets, etc. will make getting dressed and putting things away much simpler.
When you’re putting clothes away after doing laundry, take a minute to tidy up your closet space and reassess what’s working and what isn’t. What tends to get scattered around? Do you need a basket for miscellaneous items, or a bigger hamper so it doesn’t end up overflowing? Take the time to switch out seasonally too, so all your options stay current.
